But did you know that this area’s maritime history is linked to the
infamous Avro Arrow? Visit to learn more about the incredible Raise the Arrow project, spearheaded by John Burzynski, that sought to discover the Avro Arrow free-flight test models
fired from nearby Point Petre in the mid-1950’s.

At Monarch Point Conservation Reserve visitors on the trail can walk/hike to the Raise the Arrow commemorative parkette, get a view of the launch site for the free-flight test models, and see the remnants of the AVRO-ORENDA Jet Engine Tethered Propulsion Ring used to test the Arrow’s “Iroquois” jet engine.

From 1852-1874, Macaulay House was home to Reverend William Macaulay and his second wife, Charlotte Levesconte. Charlotte’s family had emigrated from England when Charlotte was a teenager, leaving her brother, Henry, behind.
