mariners park museum

Mariners Park Museum explores the rich maritime history of Prince Edward County, from shipwrecks to fisheries; rum-running to Miss Supertest II's water speed record and more! The waters around the County are filled with amazing stories that come to life at Mariners park, including the County's unique connection to the Avro Arrow. Visit to learn all about the incredible efforts of the Raise the Arrow team's search to discover one of the nine Avro Arrow free-flight test models launched from nearby Point Petre in the mid-1950’s.

The Raise the Arrow project, led by John Burzynski of OEX Recovery Group Inc., ran from 2017-2020. Its aim was to search for, locate, and raise one of the Avro Arrow free-flight test models launched from Point Petre in the mid-1950’s and lost to Lake Ontario ever since. Using advanced sonar technology, the Raise the Arrow crew explored hundreds of potential targets on the Lake’s floor, and succeeded in finding an earlier flight test model launched from Point Petre known as a Delta Test Vehicle, which was likely used to test the site’s range for the Arrow free-flight test models.

Visit us at Mariners Park Museum to learn more about the Raise the Arrow campaign and view images related to that project and the Avro Arrow free-flight model program. Also, see the remnants of a Nike booster rocket that recently washed up on one South Shore property - a rocket that was likely used to fire a flight model from the Canadian Armament Research and Development Establishment (CARDE) at Point Petre, and uncover more local connections to the Arrow!
